The Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Service (Hume RICS) was established in 2004 by the Victorian Department of Health as one of nine Victorian Integrated Cancer Services (ICS). The purpose of Hume RICS is to improve cancer services within the Hume region of Victoria. Hume RICS conducts a variety of cancer service improvement projects and initiatives.

Cancer care coordinators are able to provide information and support. These coordinator positions are focused specifically on improving the patient journey. A new cancer diagnosis followed by intensive tests and complex treatment regimens can often leave patients, their carers and families feeling fearful, anxious and confused. It is not uncommon for a person with cancer to be required to visit a number of different health care professions across many different centres. Cancer care coordinators can help patients, their carers and family with information and support, as well as being a key contact person to talk to throughout their cancer journey to help navigate through the complexities of the cancer care pathway.
